Students to shine at Brass Chamber Night Nov. 4

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host a Brass Chamber Night Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The program will feature student brass quintets performing music by Jean-Joseph Mouret, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Leonard Lebow and Leonard Bernstein.

Director Daniel Bachelder says the audience will enjoy the performance.

"Basically, it's going to be a fun evening with a lot of variety of music," Bachelder said. "We'll have baroque to classical to contemporary to things that are religious. There will be movie scenes and an interesting rendition of 'Battle Hymn of the Republic.' Plus, there will be many selections from the musical 'West Side Story.'"

Bachelder has had the assistance of graduate students Alisha Ard and Nate Galloway to coach the quintets. Ard and Galloway will also perform.

For more information, contact Daniel Bachelder, (801) 422-2375.
