Students invited to submit essays on global issues

The David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University will host its third annual essay contest on global issues.

The competition is open to all full-time BYU students, and the deadline for entries is Wednesday, Nov. 2, at noon.

"Our student body’s academic goals are often influenced by their international experiences," said Jeff Ringer, Kennedy Center director. "We hope students will use the essay contest as an outlet to express and receive recognition for their global awareness.

Essays will be critiqued by faculty coordinators at the center, with the top three essays receiving cash awards in the amount of $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place. Winners are required to present a summary of their essays in a public forum at the Kennedy Center during International Education Week Nov. 14-18.

Students may access contest rules, topics and an entry form online at kennedy.byu.edu/publications/essay.
