Special Olympics on BYU campus June 3-5

The 2004 Utah Special Olympics will be held Thursday through Saturday, June 3 through 5, on the Brigham Young University campus.

Conducted annually, the Special Olympics consist of hundreds of athletes participating in events such as track and field, softball, t-ball, soccer, cycling and motor activities.

The community is encouraged to come and support the athletes as the competition is greatly enhanced by the cheering audience.

Activities will run Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A schedule of events is available on the Web at http://www.sout04.com/schedule.htm.

People interested in volunteering can visit the volunteer booth located at the west entrance to the BYU Clarence Robison Track and Field Complex.

Volunteers will be trained prior to assisting in the games. The training session will consist of a video, entering information into a computer database and reading the volunteer code of conduct.

For more information about volunteering or about the games, call Kara Hansen at (801) 371-6880.
