Social science research in Afghanistan topic for BYU lecture March 31

Senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute Andrew Garfield will be speaking at Brigham Young University Wednesday, March 31, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Garfield’s subject will be “Ethical Social Science Research in Afghanistan: A Pragmatist’s Approach.” The lecture is open to the public.

Garfield emigrated from the U.K. to the United States in 2004 and then served as senior director for operations for a U.S. strategic communications company supporting U.S. government clients in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is vice president of Glevum Associated, a Washington, D.C.,-based strategic communications consultancy company.

Before coming to the U.S., Garfield served for two years as deputy director of the International Policy Institute at King’s College, London. He also served as the European director at the U.S.-based Terrorism Research Center.
