Several events at BYU planned for Black History Month

Brigham Young University will host several activities on campus during the month of February in conjunction with Black History Month.

Many of the activities are sponsored by Multicultural Student Services and the Black Student Union at BYU. Events for the month include:

  • Michael Styles, coordinator of the Utah Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Commission, Tuesday, Feb. 10. Stiles will speak at 7 p.m. in 3220 Wilkinson Student Center.

  • Live at Terrace, featuring "Deseret Storm," Friday, Feb. 13. The event will take place at noon in the Wilkinson Student Center Terrace.

  • Hip Hop Symposium featuring DJ Chino, Friday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom.

  • Dance, Friday, Feb. 13, at 9:30 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center East Ballroom. The cost is $3 for a show and dance and $1 for the dance only.

  • Abdullahi Gallab, assistant professor of sociology at BYU, "The Race of Racism," Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium.

  • African American Children's Fair, Saturday, Feb. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Garden Court.

  • "Taste of Every Culture," Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in 3220 Wilkinson Student Center. For more information about any of the events scheduled for Black History Month, contact Multicultural Student Services at (801) 422-3065.
