Sept. 30 seminar to cover "Dressing for Career Success"

"Dressing for Career Fair Success--and Beyond," a special seminar for students seeking employment and internships, has been scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 30, from noon to 1 p.m. in 3222 Wilkinson Student Center.

Judith Rasband, noted image author and director of the Conselle Institute of Image Management, will conduct the session.

"Judith offers much more than just ideas for proper dress on the job and when applying for work," said Richard Cox, career fair chair. "She provides graphic descriptions of the four levels of dress and includes efficient, economical suggestions for the working wardrobe."

Included in her presentation are proper grooming, manners, conduct and bearing in the interview, and effective self-presentation skills.

"Even body language can be key to job success, and I cover that, too," Rasband adds. "In today's highly competitive job market, candidates need to be at the top of their game, and it all begins with appearance and presentation."

The "Dress for Success" program is one of several programs offered by BYU Career Placement Services to help students through the rigors faced at the career fair and in their overall job search.

Other seminars are scheduled to "put a finer point" on the job seeker's skills, Cox emphasized. "If students take advantage of these training opportunities, they've increased their chances of success greatly in their career efforts."

The BYU Fall 2003 Career Fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom.
