Scott Holden to present free BYU faculty piano recital Oct. 28

Scott Holden, Brigham Young University School of Music faculty artist, will present a piano recital on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.  This performance is free.

Holden will perform a number of classical numbers including works by Mozart, Haydn and Liszt. There will also be a few movements of Vernon Duke’s “Parisian Suite” performed in the middle of the program.

He enjoys an active career as soloist, chamber musician and teacher, and he has performed in 30 different American states and nine European countries as well as Canada and Mexico.

As first-prize winner of the 1996 Leschetizky New York Debut Competition, he made his Carnegie Recital Hall concert debut. He has also performed at the John F. Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center. Performances have been aired on CBC, NPR and NBC, and he has had many radio and television appearances on KBYU. Holden is a member of BYU's popular American Piano Quartet.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
