School of Music hosts Saxophone Chamber Night Nov. 6

Brigham Young University’s School of Music will present an evening of saxophone music during its Saxophone Chamber Night Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission to the performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert will be directed by DB Long and will include performances by two student saxophone quartets.

The program includes “Valse Chromatique” by Pierre Vellones, “Aria of the Rose” by Molly Hanson, “Dance Suite” by William Schmidt, “Scherzo for Saxophone Quartet” by Warren E. Barker, “Introduction and Allegro” by Milan Kaderavèk, “Saxophone Quartet No. 2” by Russell Howland and “Fantasia en Forme de Plombier” by Koji Kondo.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
