Brigham Young University’s School of Music presents mezzo-soprano Ruth Christensen in a faculty recital Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.
Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Accompanied by pianist Jared Oaks, Christensen will present a program of vocal works highlighting French composers Cecile Chaminade and Francis Poulenc, as well as three Swedish songs by Lars-Erik Larsson.
The program will also feature British and American works by composers Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber and Ned Rorem. Christensen will also perform “The Cloths of Heaven” by Dilys Elwyn-Edwards, “Four Nights” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and “The Leather-Winged Bat” arranged by Jake Heggie.
Christensen received a bachelor's degree in music from BYU, a master's degree in music from Arizona State University and a doctorate in music from the University of Michigan.
