Russell Taylor featured at BYU devotional Oct. 26

Russell Taylor of University Libraries will present the Brigham Young University campus devotional Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the Marriott Center at 11:05 a.m. His speech is titled “The Gardener of Gethsemane.”

The devotional will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels and at byub.org. Visit byub.org/devotionals and speeches.byu.edu for rebroadcast and archive information.

Taylor is the supervisor of Reference Services and department chair of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections in the Harold B. Lee Library, where he has been employed since 1999. Prior professional work includes 15 years in corporate public affairs; three years as assistant curator of Special Collections at BYU; temporary positions as a reference librarian at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., and Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, Minn.; and a position as a contract library cataloger for Advanced Information Consultants in Minneapolis, Minn.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in library science from BYU and a juris doctorate from Syracuse University. His education and work have taken him to New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Minnesota.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
