Rulon D. Pope to deliver annual Hickman lecture at BYU March 8

Rulon D. Pope, professor of economics and associate dean of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences at Brigham Young University, will highlight this year’s Martin B. Hickman Lecture Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in 250 Spencer W. Kimball Tower.

Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

The title of Pope’s address will be “Deal or No Deal: Risk Aversion, Smoothing and Prudence.”

Pope is a nationally recognized authority on the economics of uncertainty, risk and production, and his research is focused on agricultural economics. Since receiving his education at BYU and the University of California, Berkeley, Pope has taught at the University of California, Davis, BYU and Texas A&M University. He has also served in the presidency of the Western Agricultural Economics Association and as associate editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
