Rory R. Scanlon named associate dean

Of BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications

Rory R. Scanlon, a professor of theatre and media arts at Brigham Young University, has been appointed an associate dean in the College of Fine Arts and Communications.

"Rory's assignments will involve student and curricular issues, including curriculum development, teaching and learning improvement, student admissions and advisement, graduate studies, teacher education and other student services," said Dean Stephen Jones of the College of Fine Arts and Communications. "He will also continue to oversee the College's Division of Design and Production."

A set and costume designer for dozens of productions both on and off campus, Scanlon received a bachelor of arts degree from BYU in 1980 and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1984, when he joined the BYU theatre and media arts faculty.

The appointment is effective May 1.
