Ronald Gonzales named Purdue University Distinguished Alumnus

The Department of Industrial Technology at Purdue University has selected Ronald Gonzales, a Brigham Young University professor of information technology, as its 2007 Distinguished Alumnus.

Purdue’s Distinguished Technology Alumni program recognizes graduates who have demonstrated outstanding work in pursuit of their careers. Gonzales will be honored at the program’s award ceremony on April 13.

Gonzales earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, Long Beach as well as a doctoral degree from Purdue University. He began his work at BYU in 1977, and during his 30 years in Provo, has served as professor, as administrative assistant and chair of BYU’s Technology Teacher Education program, as major adviser to 51 master’s theses and as a graduate coordinator, among other positions.

He is a senior member of the Association for Career and Technical Education and the International Technology Education Association. Gonzales has also served with the Utah Industrial Education Association, the National Advisory Committee for Electronic Kourseware Interactive and the American Society for Engineering Educators.
