Romanian ambassador to U.S. plans BYU lecture Feb. 25

His Excellency Adrian C. Vierita, Romanian ambassador to the United States, will be speaking at Brigham Young University Thursday, Feb. 25, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Vierita will be speaking on Romanian and U.S. relations over the past 130 years and their shared “values, partnerships and vision.” His lecture is sponsored by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.

He was appointed Romanian ambassador to the United States in 2008. He has served in diplomatic positions since 1991, including posts as state secretary for European affairs with the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as ambassador to Germany. He has also represented the Romanian government with the U.N., Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.

He has also served as Romania’s deputy permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the U.N. Industrial Development Organization.
