"Road to Zion: Hawaii" to air on KBYU-TV on Sept. 8

Traces story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawaii

Host Shaunna Thompson will retrace the steps of the first missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who arrived in Hawaii in 1850 in “Road to Zion: Hawaii,” which will air on KBYU-TV on Monday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.

Viewers will also learn about the Church’s sugar plantation and visit the campus of BYU-Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Laie Hawaii Temple. “Road to Zion: Hawaii” also details the 1865 gathering of Latter-day Saints to Laie on the island of Oahu, the growth of the Church on other islands and the pivotal role of the Honolulu Tabernacle in local history.

“Road to Zion: Hawaii” is the first episode of Season 2 of the “Road to Zion” series. In addition to Hawaii, upcoming episodes of Season 2 will include the history of the Church in the British Isles and France. Season 1 chronicled the history of the early Church with visits to various historical sites in the United States.
