"Rigoletto" subject of David M. Kennedy Center lecture Feb. 9

Luca Bonomi, president of the Dante Alighieri Society, will be speaking at the Brigham Young University David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

The Dante Alighieri Society works to promote Italian culture and language around the world. Bonomi will be speaking about examples of paternal love in Verdi’s opera, “Rigoletto,” composed in 1851. He will investigate the genesis of the opera, emphasizing the different themes with an analysis of some scenes. Bonomi will talk about why it remains one of the most internationally recognized operas.
