Rex Lee Run Against Cancer scheduled for March 8

The 19th annual Rex Lee Run Against Cancer will take place Saturday, March 8, at the BYU Outdoor Track at Brigham Young University. Proceeds will go to the BYU Cancer Research Center to fund cancer research fellowships.

Participants must register online at rexleerun.byu.edu/register-to-run. The cost for the run is $15 for the 5K run and $20 for the 10K run if registered on or before March 7.

Bib and T-Shirt Pickup will be available March 6-7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the BYU University Parkway Center. Participants must wait until the next business day to pick up the items after their registration. Same-day registration will only be open from 7 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., and there will be an additional $5 fee.

The opening ceremonies for the event will be at 8:45 a.m. with the 5k race starting at 9 a.m. and the 10k starting at 9:15 a.m. All attendees may enter a raffle for prizes donated by community businesses to be presented after the race. Anyone can participate in the raffle without having to pay the race entry fee. There will also be music and food.

The Rex Lee Run Against Cancer honors former BYU President Rex E. Lee, a former U.S. Solicitor General and an avid runner. Lee died of lymphoma in 1996. The first Rex Lee Run, organized by cancer survivors in his honor, was held a few weeks after his passing.
