Religion, ecology topic for Yale lecturer at BYU Feb. 17

John Grim of Yale University will be speaking at the Brigham Young University David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Grim, who is a senior lecturer and scholar and coordinator of the Forum on Religion and Ecology at Yale, will be speaking on “The Emerging Alliance of Religion and Ecology.”

Grim teaches courses for students in the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, the Yale Divinity School, the Department of Religious Studies, the Institution for Social and Policy Studies and the Yale Colleges.

He is also the editor of “World Religions and Ecology” from Harvard Divinity School’s Center for the Study of World Religions. He has also been a professor of religion at Bucknell University and Sarah Lawrence College, where he taught courses on Native American and indigenous religions, world religions and religion and ecology.

Grim is president of the American Teilhard Association, an organization “dedicated to the future of the earth and of the human community.” He received a bachelor’s degree in theology and history from St. John's University and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in the history of religions from Fordham University.
