Range science society honors BYU professor's achievements

Brigham Young University professor Bruce A. Roundy was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award for Research and Academia at the 63rd annual meeting for the Society of Range Management in Denver, Colo.

The SRM is a professional society that promotes professional development and education related to rangeland resources. The organization was founded in 1948 and has chapters throughout the world.

Roundy has been a professor at BYU for 15 years teaching hundreds of students in range management-related courses. Prior to coming to BYU, he taught at the University of Arizona for 10 years. In 2000, he was awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award by the SRM. In 2008, he was also recognized as the Range Manager of the Year by the Utah Section Society for Range Management.

Roundy is an avid researcher, working with invasive weed species and rangeland restoration. He publishes on average two publications a year and presents regularly around the nation. Previously, he served as chair for the Department of Botany and Range Science at BYU.

For more information, contact Vicky Trujillo, executive assistant at SRM at (303) 986-3309 or Bruce Roundy at (801) 422-8137.
