Rae Jeanne Memmott to present BYU devotional address July 8

Rae Jeanne Memmott, international programs coordinator for the Brigham Young University College of Nursing, will speak at a campus devotional on Tuesday, July 8, at 11:05 a.m. in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium.

The devotional will be presented live on BYU Television, KBYU-TV, KBYU-FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

As coordinator of international programs, Memmott organizes and directs a course that provides students with an opportunity to experience the impact of political, social, cultural and environmental issues on global health and health care systems.

Her students live in rural communities of Utah, spend time with at-risk populations within the state or learn about integrative healing at a site remote from BYU. International locations include Australia, Argentina and Ecuador, where students learn about global diversity as they work in hospitals, conduct research and serve local communities.

Memmott was recognized with the BYU Faculty Women’s Association Award for citizenship in 2007. She has also worked as an associate professor of nursing at the University of Utah, as a director of patient services for IHC Home Health Agency and as president of the nonprofit Neuman Systems Model Trustees Group for the advancement of nursing.

She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from BYU and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado in psychiatric and community mental health nursing.
