President Henry B. Eyring to speak at BYU devotional Jan. 15

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will offer a devotional address Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University.

The devotional will be presented live on BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

President Eyring was called as second counselor in the First Presidency during the 177th Semiannual General Conference in October 2007. He has been a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since April 1, 1995. President Eyring has also served in the First Quorum of the Seventy, the Presiding Bishopric and various other callings, including Commissioner of Church Education.

Professionally, President Eyring has long been involved in science and education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Utah and completed his master’s and doctorate in business administration at Harvard Graduate School of Business in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Soon after, he became an assistant professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, Calif. He also served as head of Ricks College—now BYU-Idaho—from 1972 to 1977.
