President Dieter F. Uchtdorf to speak at CES fireside Nov. 1

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at a Church Educational System Fireside Sunday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Marriott Center on the Brigham Young University campus.

The fireside will be presented live on BYU Television. Rebroadcast information is available at byubroadcasting.org.

President Uchtdorf has served as a General Authority of the Church since April 1994. He was called as second counselor in the First Presidency of the Church on February 2008 and was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church on October 2004. He served as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy from August 2002 until he was called to the Twelve Apostles.

Born in Czechoslovakia and raised in Germany, President Uchtdorf was the senior vice president of flight operations and chief pilot of Lufthansa German Airlines before being called to serve as a General Authority.
