President Cecil O. Samuelson, Sharon Samuelson to present Sept. 11 devotional

Brigham Young University President Cecil O. Samuelson and his wife Sharon will address the campus community at a devotional Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 11:05 a.m in the Marriott Center.

Their address is titled “The Year of the Constitution.” The KBYU networks and byubroadcasting.org will air the live broadcast of the devotional. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

President Samuelson has served as BYU’s 12th president since 2003. He is a member of the Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in many church positions, including as president of the Utah North Area and the Europe North Area.

Professionally, President Samuelson was the senior vice president of Intermountain Health Care and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Utah. Along with many scholastic honors, he is the author or co-author of 48 original publications.

Sharon Giauque Samuelson graduated from the University of Utah with honors in history. During the early years of their marriage, she received her teaching certification and taught school. She has held leadership positions in all of the auxiliary organizations of the church while being active in the community and working as a full-time homemaker and mother.

Rare Gates of Paradise replica restored and on display at the BYU Museum of Art

The BYU Museum of Art (MOA) recently unveiled restored gypsum cast panels of Italian sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti’s famous "Gates of Paradise." After decades in storage and years of student-powered restoration, the Gates are now ready for display. With fewer than a dozen of these replicas still intact and even fewer on display, this replica stands as an important addition to BYU.
