President Cecil O. Samuelson and Sharon Samuelson to speak at Sept. 12 devotional

Brigham Young University President Cecil O. Samuelson and his wife Sharon will speak at a campus devotional at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Marriott Center.

The devotional is titled “What is It That We Honor?” Live broadcasts of the devotional will be on the KBYU networks and at byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

President Samuelson is BYU’s 12th president and has been serving since 2003. Prior to coming to BYU, President Samuelson graduated from the University of Utah, where he later served as a professor of medicine, dean of the School of Medicine and vice president of health sciences. He also worked as senior vice president for Intermountain Health Care and, along with other scholastic honors, has authored or co-authored 48 original publications.

He is a member of the Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sharon Giauque Samuelson graduated from the University of Utah with honors in history. She also obtained her teaching certification and taught school during the early years of their marriage. Active in the community, she has held leadership positions in all of the auxiliary organizations of the Church while working as a full-time homemaker and mother to the Samuelson's five children.
