Popular Percussion Ensemble, Panoramic Steel in BYU concert Nov. 30

The Brigham Young University School of Music will present Panoramic Steel and the Percussion Ensemble directed by Ron Brough in concert on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission will be $10, or $7 with a BYU or student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-4322 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

The program will include “Diabolic Variations,” “Keep Movin’,” “Trio per Uno,” “Sockin’ It With Steel,” “Cha Cha Sandwich” and “Appreciation.”

Panoramic Steel is BYU’s own steel drum ensemble. Performers use all standard Trinidadian instruments crafted from 55 gallon barrels by the internationally acclaimed Ellie Mannette.

The Percussion Ensemble performs an array of pieces for virtually every percussion instrument imaginable, from avant-garde to popular classics to ethnic and world music.
