Popular Panoramic Steel, Percussion Ensemble liven up holidays Dec. 7

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Panoramic Steel and Percussion Ensemble concert under the direction of Ron Brough Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The Percussion Ensemble will perform "Roule Quadrille" by Mario Canonge, "Carol of the Drum" arranged by Don Hannah, "Fugata" by Astor Piazzolla and "Portico" by Tom Gauger, principal percussionist for the Boston Symphony.

The Panoramic Steel band performs on 55-gallon oil barrels imported from Trinidad. They will perform "The Passage" from Andy Narell's latest album, "The Chosen Place" by Tom Miller and "Pan Rising" by Len "Boogsie" Sharpe.

"The concert will be a great aural feast as well as a visual feast as the audience sees and hears the instruments perform together," Brough said.

Members of the Percussion Ensemble include Amanda Meyer, Jeffrey Bartholomew, Jordan Johnsen, Trevor Goss, Chris Lee, Andrew Baer, Kandis Bender, Jared Morris, Celeste Cope, Rob Sowby, Andrew Merrell, Jenne West, Jeff Holt and Daniel Adams.

Members of Panoramic Steel include John Paul Andersen, Matt Nielsen, Alex Harris, Toni Greenhalgh, Andrew Ferguson, James McMurray, Amanda Meyer, Seul-Ki Min, Stephanie Young, Kandis Bender, Celeste Cope, Andrew Forbes, Andrew Tolman and Chris Dupuis.
