Poet Susan Howe featured at Lee Library reading series April 8

Susan Howe, a Brigham Young University professor of English and creative writing, will speak at this week's English Reading Series in the Lee Library Auditorium on Friday, April 8, at noon.

Howe is the author of "Stone Spirits," a collection of poetry that won the Charles Redd Center Publication Prize in 1996. Her poetry has been published in Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Tar River Poetry and the Charlton Review.

Last year, she and colleague Sheree Bench edited the book "Discoveries: Two Centuries of Poems by Mormon Women." The work has been reproduced as a play and filmed for DVD release.

Howe's interests include contemporary American poetry, women's literature and modern and contemporary drama. She is currently writing a second book of poetry, a play and a musical script.

All are invited to attend the reading and are encouraged to arrive early for good seats. For more information, contact Robert Means at the Lee Library, (801) 422-6117.
