Pianist Angela Cheng in guest recital at BYU Feb. 1

Brigham Young University welcomes acclaimed Canadian pianist Angela Cheng for a concert Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Hailed by critics for her remarkable technique, tonal beauty and musicianship, Cheng is one of Canada's most gifted pianists.

Cheng is known for her piano interpretations of Mozart. Her debut recording was of two Mozart concerti. She also received the Medal of Excellence at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 1991.

Her repertoire includes a wide variety of composers such as Chopin, Mozart, Gershwin, Strauss and Beethoven.

Cheng was born in Hong Kong. She received her bachelor of music degree from The Juilliard School and her master of music degree from Indiana University.
