Philippine ambassador to give BYU lecture Oct. 4

His Excellency Jose L. Cuisia, Jr, Filipino ambassador to the United States, will discuss "The Philippines: Forging a Future of Peace and Prosperity" Thursday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young University.

Cuisia was appointed Filipino ambassador in 2010 while he was serving as the commissioner (representing the Employer’s Group) of the Social Security System. Cuisia was also Central Bank governor and chairman of the Monetary Board and concurrently chairman of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation Board.

His expertise in banking and insurance is the result of years of service in several financial institutions, including the Philippine American Life & General Insurance Company, American International Group, Far East Bank & Trust Company, Inlar Bank of Asia and America, and Union Bank of the Philippines.

Cuisia received his master’s degree in business management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
