Patrick Madden featured at English Department reading series Oct. 13

The English Department-sponsored reading series at Brigham Young University will host Patrick Madden at noon on Friday, Oct. 13, in B190 of the Joseph F. Smith Building (a change from the previously announced Lee Library auditorium).

Madden received his doctorate in English (creative nonfiction and 20th-century American literature) from Ohio University in 2004. His dissertation, titled "Uruguay," is a historical travelogue made possible by a Fulbright fellowship.

Madden has published essays in many literary journals and translated poetry from Spanish, interviews writers and reviews books. He also teaches English 317R: Writing Creative Nonfiction every semester at BYU and will teach an English 495 senior seminar on the history and theory of the essay this winter.

Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Holly Hansen at holly.hansen@byu.edu.
