Orpheus Winds to present recital Nov. 5 at Hinckley Center

Brigham Young University faculty wind quintet Orpheus Winds will present a recital Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center.

Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.

The quintet will perform the Suite by Charles Lefebvre, the Quintet No. 1 by Jean Françaix, both French composers, and the Wind Quintet No. 4 by American composer David Maslanka.

Orpheus Winds is composed of five BYU faculty members from the School of Music: April Clayton on flute, Geralyn Giovannetti on oboe, Jaren Hinckley on clarinet, Chris Smith on bassoon and Lawrence Lowe on French horn.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
