The Brigham Young University BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts Series presents an evening with operatic baritone Nathan Gunn in the Madsen Recital Hall at BYU on Friday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40, with $10 off with a BYU or student ID and $3 off for seniors and BYU alumni. Tickets can be purchased in person at the BYU Ticket Office in the Harris Fine Arts Center or Marriott Center, by phone 801.422.2981 or online at byuarts.com.

One of the most in-demand and experienced baritones of the day, Gunn has appeared with the major orchestras and opera companies of the world. His wife and collaborator, Julie, joins him for this recital of classical gems.

Gunn was seen most recently on stage in New York as Danilo in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow. He is an alumnus of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he is currently a professor of voice in the School of Music. Julie is an associate professor in collaborative piano in the same school.

The production at BYU is generously supported by the Nancy Peery Marriott Vocal Artist Series, an endowment inaugurated in January 2008 during a visit to campus by renowned mezzo-soprano Frederica Von Stade. Recognizing both the caliber of the singers at BYU and the challenges they face to gain professional exposure, the Marriotts created an endowment to bring professional artists and teachers to BYU to hear and train the best students during a brief residency. In addition to their performance, the Gunns will teach a master class for advanced BYU music students.
