The Brigham Young University David M. Kennedy Center welcomes Adam Liptak, columnist for The New York Times, who will lecture on “Covering the Roberts Court: A Reporter’s Reflections” Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Liptak covers the Supreme Court for the Times. His column on legal affairs, “Sidebar,” appears every other Tuesday. He was awarded the Scripps Howard Award for Washington reporting in 2011 for an examination of the first five years of the Robert’s court, and he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting in 2009 for “American Exception,” a series of articles examining ways in which the American legal system differs from those of other developed nations.

He has taught media law at the Columbia University School of Journalism, UCLA Law School, and Yale Law School. A graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, he practiced law in New York City and in the legal department of the New York Times before joining the news staff in 2002.
