New advisement center for pre-professional students to open in fall

The Brigham Young University administration announced that a new center for pre-professional advisement will begin operation a few weeks prior to Fall Semester 2006.

The new center will serve students preparing to apply to certain graduate and professional programs that do not require completion of a specific undergraduate major. Its counselors will advise and support students seeking admission to programs such as dentistry, law, management, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, physical therapy, physician assistant and dental hygiene. The new center will be associated with the Counseling and Career Center and work collaboratively with college advisement centers and the University Advisement Center.

Until the new center opens, students who need pre-professional assistance should continue to seek advisement through the Health Professions Advisement Center (380 WIDB) and the Law Advisement Office (3234 WSC).

Other students preparing for graduate or professional programs that require preparation in a specific major will continue to receive assistance through appropriate college advisement centers or academic department offices and faculty.
