Music innovator Malcolm Goldstein in BYU guest recital Nov. 13

Guest artist Malcolm Goldstein will be performing at Brigham Young University Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission is free.

He will be performing with Christian Asplund, BYU School of Music faculty artist, and BYU’s Group for Experimental Music.

A New York-based composer/violinist, Goldstein has been revolutionizing what a violin can do since the 1960s. He has co-founded the Tone Roads Ensemble, participates in the New York Festival of the Avant Garde and has toured throughout North America and Europe.

He is well-known for his improvisational sound and has received international acclaim.

“There is no violinist like him,” said critic Ivan Loco Nordin of Sonoloco Records. “He has taken the instrument far beyond its presumed limits, shaping a music which shines and glows inside this fairytale atmosphere that is the mind and spirit of Malcolm Goldstein.”
