Museum of Peoples, Cultures plans tailgate party Sept. 25

In honor of the 2010 “Utah Museum Day” Saturday, Sept. 25, Brigham Young University’s Museum of Peoples and Cultures will host a pre-game tailgate party where visitors are welcome to enjoy a variety of free activities from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is being hosted prior to BYU’s football game versus the University of Nevada, Reno.

Guests will find a number of free things to do while at the museum, including special tours, face painting, totem-pole pictures, games, crafts and refreshments . Complimentary tours of the museum’s current exhibits will also be given: “New Lives: Building Community at Fourmile Ruin” and “Beneath Your Feet: Discovering the Archaeology of Utah Valley.”

“This is the perfect pre-game event for families, friends and dates” said Anna McKean, promotions manager at BYU’s MPC. “Plus, who doesn’t love free donuts before a football match?”

The museum is participating in Utah Museum Day along with 250 other state museums. The statewide event is jointly organized by the Utah Office of Museum Services, the Utah Museums Association and the International Society of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

For more information about Utah Museum Day, visit artsandmuseums.utah.gov/museumday.html. For more details about the tailgate event, visit mpc.byu.edu or call (801) 422-0020. The MPC is located just south of BYU’s campus at 700 N. 100 E., Provo.
