Monte Belknap to present BYU faculty violin recital April 8

The Brigham Young University School of Music will present Monte Belknap in a faculty violin recital Saturday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Accompanied by Barbara Allen on the piano, Belknap will perform sonatas by Bach and Beethoven. He will also perform George Enescu’s “Ballada” and Henryk Wieniawski’s “Scherzo-Tarantella.”

A performing violinist for 30 years, Belknap won the International Starling Violin Competition receiving a full scholarship to the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also studied chamber music with some of the world’s leading performing ensembles, including the Juilliard, Tokyo and LaSalle string quartets, as well as the Beaux Arts Piano Trio.
