BYU Men’s Chorus will perform April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. This end-of-year performance will feature well known choral pieces such as “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl, spiritual pieces such as “Isaiah 44:3” by Jackson Berkey, international songs such as “Shenandoah” by Kevin Reihle, and a medley of the musical Newsies.

Interim Director Matthew Nielsen said the students always look forward to this end-of-year performance. In fact, the choir has been working on some of these pieces since Sept.

“This concert is always a fun one because the men provide a great mix of works from the classical cannon as well as more contemporary compositions,” Nielsen said. “This year we’re thrilled to be performing a medley of songs from the music Newsies. When the men found out they were singing this medley, the room erupted in cheers.”

Men's Chorus member Xander Moffatt said the students have been working hard and are excited to show the world what they've practiced.

"The students in the Men's Chorus work so hard to learn our music and we look forward to performing and showing the world what we've worked on,” Moffatt said. “It is rewarding to get on stage, leave everything else behind and sing our hearts out. We believe the music and spirit of the Men's Chorus can change the world, and we want every attribute of our performance to reflect that belief."Considered on of the largest collegiate male choral organization in the country, Men’s Chorus has more than 400 students audition for the ensemble each year. Choir members originate from many different countries and over two thirds of the chorus have served LDS missions throughout the world.

Tickets for this performance are $6 to $10 and are available to purchase at the ticket offices in the Harris Fine Arts Center or Marriott Center, by phone at 801-422-2981 or online at byuarts.com. For those who are unable to attend, the event will be live streamed at liveconcerts.byu.edu.
