Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum to celebrate 30 years

With week of activities March 24-29

The Brigham Young University Monte L. Bean Life ScienceMuseum will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a variety ofactivities during the week of March 24-29.

The museum will host a family treasure hunt, a coloringcontest, pictures with Shasta the Liger, an “Open Collections Night,” abirthday party, a kid’s passport event and a special Tanner Lecture about theGiant Galapagos tortoise presented by husband-and-wife team Jeffery Powell andAdalgisa Caccone from Yale University.

Along with thecelebration a new exhibit will be opened. Ken Behring has contributed astunning collection of mammals, and a new exhibit will celebrate Behring’sgift while examining some of the remarkable attributes of each of the animalsin the new exhibit.

“Dedicated in 1978, the museumis still a place for BYU students and the local community to experience thewonders of the living world,” said museum administrator Patty Jones.
