Lego Mindstorm robot challenge among others for National Engineers Week

In honor of the 2012 National Engineers Week the Brigham Young University Ira. A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology will host interactive exhibits, competitions and tours for middle and high school students on Thursday, Feb. 23, 9-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m. in the WSC Garden Court.

These events are free and open to the public.

The college will also host competitions based on engineering principles in room 3220 of the Wilkinson Center. There will be a college-aged competition level and a level for middle and high school students. Events include a Lego Mindstorm robot challenge as well as paper airplane, destructive tower and boat building competitions.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
