Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library has recently made it easier for students and faculty engaged in research to place holds on necessary books.
While students can still visit the library’s circulation desk to make requests, patrons can now use the “Place Hold” link in the library catalog from any computer to put a book on hold. The volume will then be placed on hold for one week.
Because so many patrons are taking advantage of the new service, there has been an increase in the number of recall notices issued to faculty and students. Library workers want patrons to know they are aware of the trend and assure that everyone will be treated fairly in the process.
