Lee Library plans House of Learning Lectures Jan. 15 and 29

The Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University will open its winter semester House of Learning Lecture Series with a pair of addresses at 2 p.m. in the library auditorium on the first level.

• Thursday, Jan. 15—Paul Warnick, associate professor of Asian and Near Eastern languages, will present “Language as Cultural Behavior: Context, Culture, and Communication.” Warnick’s presentation will examine different views of culture and how culture can be effectively incorporated into the language learning process.

• Thursday, Jan. 29—Joseph D. Parry, associate dean of the College of Humanities, will discuss “Renaissance Annunciation Paintings, or When Angels Don’t Bother Knocking before Entering.” Parry’s presentation will explore Renaissance depictions of the moment when God changes His own nature and takes on a human body.

Past House of Learning Lectures can be viewed on Byugle, the Lee Library’s online media player. To access Byugle, visit byugle.lib.byu.edu.
