Lee Library hosts Calligraphy Workshop with Nancy Nay Oct. 24

The Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University will host a calligraphy workshop Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections classroom on level one.

Admission is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Interested participants are asked to email Cindy Brightenburg at cindy_brightenburg@byu.edu to reserve a space.

Artist and calligrapher Nancy Nay will discuss calligraphy and rare manuscripts from Special Collections, including the newly acquired St. John’s Bible. Participants will then be invited to try calligraphy under Nay’s instruction.

The workshop is held in conjunction with American Archives Month.  An archive is a place where people go to find primary sources, such as facts, rare books, photographs, audio, video and letters. The L. Tom Perry Special Collections is an archive which primarily preserves LDS and Utah cultural and historical information.

For more information, contact Heather Scott, (801) 422-1848, library_pr@byu.edu.
