Lawrence P. Vincent to give BYU devotional address Nov. 4

Lawrence P. Vincent, professor of music and voice at Brigham Young University, will speak at a campus devotional Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The devotional will be broadcast live on KBYU (Channel 11), KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Television and BYU-Radio satellite networks and on byubroadcasting.org.

It will be rebroadcast Sunday, Nov. 9, on BYU-Radio at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. It will also be rebroadcast Sunday, Nov. 16, on KBYU (Channel 11) at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m., on BYU-Television at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on KBYU-FM (89.1) Sunday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m.

Vincent has been the director of opera at BYU's School of Music since joining the faculty in 1997. Before coming to BYU, he enjoyed a successful career in Europe, singing with the Vienna State Opera from 1991-96, the Vienna Volks Opera from 1987-96 and the Stadttheater Trier in Trier, Germany, from 1982-87.

In 1994, he was awarded honorary Austrian citizenship for his work in Vienna.

He has sung such roles as Tamino in "The Magic Flute" and Narraboth in "Salome." He also played major roles in "The Barber of Seville" and "Don Giovanni." He has performed in concert and as a guest soloist in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the United States.
