Kennedy Center lectures consider foreign policy, Afghanistan Jan. 25 and Feb. 1

The David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University will host two Global Awareness Lectures during the next two weeks featuring Bradford J. Bruton and Dodge Billingsley at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Bruton, an open source analyst and collection manager for the Central Intelligence Agency, will address “The Role of Analysis in the U.S. Foreign Policy Process” Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Billingsley, a documentary film producer and director with Combat Films and Research, will present the lecture, “Afghanistan Heats Up: An Assessment,” Wednesday, Feb. 1.

A BYU alumnus, Bruton has worked with the CIA for 23 years, has had a variety of Washington assignments and has served seven field tours at regional bureaus with embassies in Panama City, London, Tel Aviv, Bangkok, Asuncion and the Key West Naval Air Station.

Billingsley continues to explore the conflicts plaguing the world by producing and directing documentaries on location from the United Arab Emirates to Africa and from Abkhazia to China.

His company, Combat Films & Research, produced a series of five films and a panel discussion, titled “Beyond the Border,” for the Kennedy Center that aired on KBYU in 2004 and 2005.

Both lectures will be archived online. For more information on Kennedy Center events, visit kennedy.byu.edu.
