KBYU Television to air 'Road to Zion: Travels in Church History' during June

Beginning Sunday, June 5, KBYU Television will air a new five-part series, “Road to Zion: Travels in Church History,” which will take viewers on road trips to the most significant historical sites of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Hosted by Shaunna Thompson, “Road to Zion” will appeal to those who have never been to Church history sites, those who are planning to go and those who want to relive the experiences they’ve previously enjoyed.

“We wanted to create a respectful, and yet fast-paced, high-energy program that would also give an in-depth look at many of the Church of Jesus Christ’s historical sites, creating a sense that ‘you are there’ as Shaunna explores the early days of Church history,” said Kendall Wilcox, the producer and director and an award-winning filmmaker. “In particular, we have designed the series to appeal to families with teenagers and younger children.”

The series begins in Palmyra, N.Y.; then travels to Kirtland, Ohio; Missouri; and Nauvoo, Ill., and then heads west to Utah by way of Martin’s Cove, Wyo.

Those planning trips to any of the Church’s historical sites will benefit from this hands-on orientation, and those who have been will be able to once again share in the experiences of the early Saints.

For those who haven’t been to any of the sites, Thompson will walk them through each of the many sites she visits.

A production of BYU Broadcasting, the series will air on KBYU Television (Channel 11) on June 5, 12, 19 and 26 and July 3 at 6:30 p.m.

It will also air on the BYU Television satellite network on June 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 9 p.m.; June 4, 11, 18 and 25 and July 2 at 6:30 p.m.; and June 6, 13, 20 and 27 and July 4 at 5 p.m.
