Julie Franklin of BYU's Residence Life to give devotional Dec. 5

Julie Franklin, director of Residence Life at Brigham Young University, will speak Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center for a BYU campus devotional. Her topic is titled "Peace on Earth, Some Restrictions Apply."

The devotional will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), BYU-Television, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio and byubroadcasting.org, as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Franklin earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from BYU in 1989, minoring in French. In 1994 she received her MBA, also from BYU.

Franklin was hired by Housing in 1989, and in 1992 she became assistant director of Housing. She has been director of Residence Life since 1998 and has participated in the university's recent reaccreditation efforts, serving on committees in 1996 and again in 2006, when she chaired the Standard Six subcommittee on governance and administration.
