Jeffrey Shumway to present faculty piano recital Nov. 13

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty member Jeffrey Shumway will present a piano recital on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission to the performance will be free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert will feature the Sonata in C Minor Op. 13 by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Annees de Pelerinage II: Italie” by Franz Liszt and “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin.

Since joining BYU’s faculty in 1985, Shumway has received the Gina Bachauer Medal of Artistic Distinction and has twice received the Creative Excellence Award from the College of Fine Arts and Communications. He is also a member of the internationally renowned American Piano Quartet.

Shumway received his bachelor’s degree in piano from BYU, his master’s degree from The Juilliard School and his doctorate from Indiana University.
