Invitational Songwriters Showcase features Cherie Call March 23

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Invitational Songwriters Showcase Tuesday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The Invitational Songwriters Showcase will feature the work of 10 competitively selected, advanced songwriters from the media music program at BYU.

The students will be joined by Cherie Call, a recipient of the Pearl Award Songwriter of the Year, who will perform the last set of the evening.

"Cherie Call is a delightful guest because she is a product of our program at BYU," said Media Music Division Coordinator Ron Simpson. "One of the songs still in her repertoire was written while she was at BYU."

Call, who graduated from BYU in 1997, has been paired with artists such as Jericho Road, and is regularly invited to perform at Nashville's Blue Bird Cafe.

For more information about the Invitational Songwriters Showcase, contact Ron Simpson at (801) 422-6395.
