Tickets are $6 and can be purchased in person at the Fine Arts Ticket Office or Marrriott Center, by phone at 801-422-2981 or online at BYUArts.com.
These newly auditioned ensembles perform together for the first time this season as they present both Classical and contemporary instrumental works. Each ensemble will preform one to three pieces highlighting different compositions and the ensembles own unique playing style that preview their upcoming concerts.
"The Wind Symphony selections are a preview of our October 29th concert of wind music from around the world," said Donald Peterson, director of the Wind Symphony. "We begin with an Italian composition commemorating the discovery of electricity, then play a Cossack march from Ukraine and end with Four Scottish Dances. The musical and cultural variety have made for enjoyable rehearsals and I also believe the audience will also appreciate the diversity."
The conductors are Kory Katseanes, BYU Philharmonic; Kirt Saville, Symphonic Band; Christian Smith, Symphony Orchestra; and Donald Peterson, Wind Symphony.
